I meant to say ex-health minister, not Pekan MP, says Shahidan

Arau MP Shahidan Kassim clarifies reports of his criticism of ex-PM Najib Razak on the issue of rejecting the 2021 Budget.

Shahidan Kassim says rejecting the budget is akin to betraying the trust of the people.
KUALA LUMPUR:
Perikatan Nasional Backbenchers Club chairman Shahidan Kassim has clarified reports of him criticising former prime minister Najib Razak over the 2021 budget by saying he was actually targeting former health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.

“I didn’t mean to say Pekan MP was the one rejecting the budget.

“The opposition were the ones teasing me with shouts of ‘Pekan, Pekan’. I might have accidentally tried to correct them but I meant to say the former health minister,” he told FMT.

Earlier, while debating next year’s budget in the Dewan Rakyat, the Arau MP said those who vote against the budget are betraying the trust of the rakyat.

In the midst of the voices from MPs, he was heard saying that anyone who objects to the budget, including my friend Pekan (Pekan MP Najib Razak), is betraying the trust of the rakyat as the people are waiting for it to be approved.

Shahidan said if the former health minister rejects the Supply Bill it would mean that he was betraying the trust of the people as those who have lost their jobs are waiting for the budget to be approved so they could get assistance.

He added that like PN, Barisan Nasional MPs are also united and will make a collective decision on the budget.

Shahidan claimed that the backbenchers unanimously support the budget, because “we want to voice out our undivided support for the leadership of Muhyiddin Yassin.”
