5 new Covid-19 clusters involving Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Johor

They are the Desa Pinang, Impian, Baloi, Jernai and Seri Wangsa clusters.

A total of 166 people were screened in the Baloi cluster, of which 30 tested positive.
PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has detected five new Covid-19 clusters in the country over the last 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they are the Desa Pinang cluster involving Kuala Lumpur and Selangor; Impian cluster in Selangor; Baloi cluster in Johor; as well as the Jernai and Seri Wangsa clusters in Kuala Lumpur.

The Desa Pinang cluster involves the Kepong, Lembah Pantai, Titiwangsa and Cheras districts in Kuala Lumpur and the Gombak district in Selangor.

The index case tested positive in a screening on Nov 28 after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 120 people were screened, of which 25 tested positive.

The Impian cluster was detected in Gombak, involving an individual who tested positive in a screening on Nov 29 after exhibiting symptoms. Nine people out of 220 screened have tested positive.

The Baloi cluster, involving the Johor Bahru and Pontian districts in Johor, detected its index case in a screening on Nov 28 after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 166 people were screened, of which 30 tested positive.

The Jernai cluster was detected in Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur, with the index case tested positive in a screening on Nov 29 prior to leaving the country. Forty-five people have been screened with 13 testing positive.

Lastly, the Seri Wangsa cluster was also detected in Titiwangsa, involving an individual who tested positive in a screening on Nov 29 after exhibiting symptoms. Some 154 people have been screened with eight testing positive.

The bulk of cases reported today came from new and existing clusters, close contact testings and other Covid-19 screenings.
