2,062 Covid-19 cases, one death

There were 911 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 79,304.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 2,062 Covid-19 cases and one death in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 911 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 79,304.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the 2,062 cases bring the total number of infections in the country to 97,389.

Meanwhile, the only death of the day brings the toll to 439.

A total of 17,646 people are still being treated, with 111 of them in the intensive care and 51 requiring respiratory assistance.

The death involved a 69-year-old foreigner with pre-existing medical conditions who died in Labuan.

Selangor continued to record the highest number of cases today, with 1,014 infections, followed by Kuala Lumpur with 504, Sabah with 252 and Johor with 167.

Negeri Sembilan reported 57 new cases while Penang had 23 new infections.

Perak had 17 cases, followed by Melaka (nine), Pahang (six), Kedah (five), Kelantan (four) and Labuan and Putrajaya – each with two.

A total of 120 cases today were related to prison and immigration depot clusters, namely the Tembok Gajah and Jalan Harapan prison clusters. There were only four imported cases today.
