
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,145 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 102,723.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 128,465.
There are 25,221 active cases with 142 patients being treated in intensive care and 63 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the eight deaths bring the number of fatalities to 521.
Johor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,103, while Selangor reported 706 and Sabah 493.
Kuala Lumpur recorded 316 cases followed by Penang (111), Kelantan (66), Negeri Sembilan (63), Perak (59) and Kedah (30).
Pahang also recorded new infections with 25 cases followed by Putrajaya (17), Sarawak (14), Melaka (11), Terengganu (10) and Labuan (three).
Perlis is the only state that did not report any new cases in the last 24 hours.
The eight deaths involved seven Malaysians from Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Putrajaya and Negeri Sembilan and a foreigner from Sabah.
They were aged between 38 and 83. Seven of them had pre-existing conditions.
Noor Hisham said 1,043 out of the 1,103 cases in Johor were from clusters and close contact screenings carried out.
Sixty-three cases today were related to prison and immigration depot clusters, namely the Tembok Mempaga, Jalan Harapan prison, Tembok Gajah, Damai Pelangi, Tembok Choh and Pagar Siput clusters.
There were six imported cases reported in the last 24 hours.
