Najib rebukes Cabinet after Rina tests positive, questions lack of quarantine

He says all ministers should have been classified as close contacts after Mustapa Mohamed tested positive yesterday.

Najib Razak says Cabinet members should not attend any functions for a week.
PETALING JAYA:
Former prime minister Najib Razak today criticised Cabinet members for continuing to attend functions, instead of going into self-quarantine, after one of them had tested positive for Covid-19 yesterday.

He said the health ministry should have classified all ministers as close contacts as they had attended the weekly Cabinet meeting a few days ago, along with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Economy) Mustapa Mohamed.

The Jeli MP tested positive after being screened upon his arrival in Kota Bharu from Kuala Lumpur yesterday morning.

Najib said all ministers should have been immediately ordered to undergo mandatory self-quarantine once Mustapa’s positive status was known.

“Why was Rina (Harun) allowed to attend two programmes yesterday?” he said in a Facebook post, referring to the women, family and community development minister, who tested positive today after undergoing screening at the health clinic in Putrajaya last night.

“Which is why I believe it would be safer for all ministers to stop attending functions for a week.”
