3,585 Covid-19 cases, 4,076 recoveries

11 deaths today take death toll to the 700 mark.

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 3,585 Covid-19 cases and 11 deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 4,076 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 149,160.

This is the fourth day in a row that daily recoveries have outnumbered infections.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 190,434.

There are 40,574 active cases with 280 patients being treated in intensive care and 111 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 11 deaths take the number of fatalities to 700.

Of the 11 dead, 10 were Malaysians and one foreigner, aged between 42 and 92, with eight of them having existing medical conditions.

Two of them were only found to be Covid-19 positive after they had died and were brought to the hospital, where they were tested for the virus.

The new cases today involved 3,583 local infections and two imported cases.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 1,295, while others that recorded three-digit infections comprised Kuala Lumpur (610), Johor (516), Sabah (303), Sarawak (205), Negeri Sembilan (129) and Penang (104).

They were followed by Melaka (92), Kedah (88), Terengganu (76), Kelantan (76), Perak (58), Putrajaya (15), Pahang (15), Perlis (two) and Labuan (one).

There were 59 cases from prison and detention centres, most of which came from the Jalan Harapan Prison cluster (24), Tembok Renggam cluster (12), Tembok Bukit Besi cluster (seven) and Tembok Sungai Udang cluster (six).
