KUALA LUMPUR:
Oscar-nominated film producer Poh Si Teng has been named to a top position with the Los Angeles-based International Documentary Association (IDA), in charge of its Funds and Enterprise Programme.

Malaysia’s national film development corporation Finas said today that Poh, who hails from Penang, will oversee the documentary grant development portfolio in the US and global markets at IDA.

Poh was the producer of the short documentary ‘St Louis Superman’ which was nominated last year for an Oscar in the Best Documentary category (Short Subject).

Finas said that Poh had extensive experience in documentary production at Al Jazeera International and also contributed as a journalist to several international media organisations, including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Agence France-Presse and India Times.

She had also been nominated for an Emmy award in the News and Documentary category in 2016.

Finas said it hoped that Poh’s vast experience in the documentary and publishing industry will enable her to contribute her expertise and experience in driving the country’s creative industry to the global stage.

In line with the aspirations of the road to the Oscars, the corporation also welcomes cooperation and synergies with Malaysian creative talent based overseas in empowering aspects of content development, human capital, investment and global marketing.
