State local government and housing minister Masidi Manjun said this was the first of six batches of the 104,130 vaccine shots Sabah is set to receive. These are meant for the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme, involving the vaccination of frontliners.
“The first three individuals to officially receive this vaccine will be chief minister Hajiji Noor, Sabah health director Dr Christina Rundi who is our chief frontliner and state police commissioner Hazani Ghazali,” he told reporters here.
The last package of vaccines is scheduled to arrive on Apr 1, he said, adding it will be sufficient to cover the 42,117 frontliners statewide who will receive two doses of the vaccine.
Masidi said the government would update the public on the subsequent phases of the programme.
“We have an estimated three million people in Sabah and we target to immunise every citizen,” he said.
