Speaking to reporters in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Anwar said that besides the million-ringgit offers, Julau MP Larry Sng and Tebrau MP Steven Choong who were yesterday sacked from PKR may have been “pressured” in other ways to back Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
In a startling revelation, he said he received information that the two MPs were offered “millions of ringgit” and were allegedly pressured by the authorities, including the Internal Revenue Board and the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission.
When contacted about Anwar’s claims, Sng and Choong declined comment.
Anwar also claimed that the “extravagant” lifestyles of ministers were well known yet no action had been taken against them.
“If they need to take action, including against the opposition, go ahead, but do not use this as a way to pressure them to join another party.”
On the issue of Amanah assemblymen joining PKR, Anwar said the assemblymen chose to join his party.
“At the early stage, we asked the assemblymen to sort it out with their party.”
Anwar said later on, both Amanah and PKR resolved the matter.
“I don’t think it will affect the close ties between PKR and Amanah. We have informed the Amanah president (Mohamad Sabu),” he said, adding he would advise all parties to refer to Mohamad.
Previously, Amanah’s Bukit Bintang division urged the party to review its ties with PKR and its position in the coalition after three of its Johor assemblymen quit to join PKR.
