1,139 Covid-19 cases, 4 deaths

There are 14,097 active cases, with 194 patients being treated in intensive care and 86 requiring respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 1,139 Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,199 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 339,067.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 354,468.

There are 14,097 active cases, with 194 patients being treated in intensive care and 86 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the four deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,304.

Sarawak recorded the highest number of infections with 332.

This was followed by Selangor (294), Johor (102), Penang (93), Kuala Lumpur (84), Sabah (60), Kelantan (38), Kedah (35), Negeri Sembilan (30), Perak (24), Pahang (23), Melaka (13), Terengganu (10) and Labuan (one).

Putrajaya and Perlis did not record any cases today.

The new cases today involved 1,126 local infections and 13 imported cases. Local cases comprised 1,001 Malaysians and 125 foreigners.

There were 27 cases from prisons and immigration detention centres today, mostly from the Jalan Harapan cluster, with 19 cases.

The four deaths today were all Malaysians, aged between 61 and 87. All had existing medical conditions.
