1,285 Covid-19 cases, 4 deaths

There are 14,203 active cases, with 186 patients being treated in intensive care and 81 requiring respiratory assistance.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported 1,285 Covid-19 cases and four deaths in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,175 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 340,242.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 355,753.

There are 14,203 active cases, with 186 patients being treated in intensive care and 81 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the four deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,308.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 374. This was followed by Sarawak (211), Penang (162), Kuala Lumpur (120), Sabah (106), Johor (101), Kelantan (87), Kedah (31), Perak (24), Putrajaya (19), Negeri Sembilan (12), Pahang (12), Melaka (11), Terengganu (11), Labuan (three) and Perlis (one).

The new cases today involved 1,268 local infections and 17 imported cases. Local cases comprised 999 Malaysians and 269 foreigners.

There were 105 cases from prisons and immigration detention centres today, mostly from the Jalan Harapan prison cluster, with 89 cases.

The four deaths today were all Malaysians, aged between 60 and 83. All of them had existing medical conditions.
