
Her Instagram account under the handle @airtangan_tunkuazizah appeared to have been disabled earlier today, with a notice that states “the account is now private”. The account is said to have over a million followers.
On Twitter, netizens questioned whether the account had been deleted, with suggestions that the account might have been deactivated after allegations were made that the royal family received Covid-19 vaccines while in the United Arab Emirates.
Twitter user “Jayne” said: “Did our queen just deleted her IG account” while “NoFapRamadhan” asked if the handle was deactivated.
The last posting on the account was about cooking Malaysian favourites such as bubur lampuk, roti John, cucur jagung, among other dishes at the Istana kitchen.
Screenshots posted online showed that one follower had commented, asking whether Istana chefs also received the vaccine, with the reply “Dengki ke?” (Jealous?).
The reply was quickly picked up on Twitter, with many users using the term as a hashtag for posting mocking the reply.
At the weekend, foreign media alleged that the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, his family and several Malaysian VIPs received the Sinopharm vaccine, which has yet to be approved by Malaysia’s pharmaceutical regulator, as well as 2,000 extra doses to take home.
Health minister Dr Adham Baba denied the reports, which he said were defamatory. He said there was no “hanky-panky” in vaccine procurement.
