PETALING JAYA:
A delivery rider’s preparation for Hari Raya for his family has come to a halt following an accident on the New Klang Valley Expressway (NKVE) that has left him traumatised.

Faris Ismail, 31, was on his way to send food to customers when he was involved in an accident with a lorry near the Subang-Kota Damansara road on Monday afternoon.

The GrabFood rider was shaken and bruised, and the motorcycle that he had used for almost three years was badly damaged.

Faris Ismail’s motorcycle wedged between the lorry and pickup truck.

The father of two said the incident had dashed his family’s plans to celebrate Hari Raya.

“I have been too traumatised to get another motorcycle and it has been difficult to return to work,” he said, adding that his wife takes care of their children, aged seven and four.

Faris claimed the lorry made a sudden turn and crashed into his motorcycle, causing him to land some distance away.

“When I landed on the road, a pickup truck nearly hit me, but the driver managed to avoid me and crashed into the motorcycle,” he said.

Before becoming a full-time delivery rider, Faris had worked at his mother-in-law’s catering company since he was 18.

But the movement control order last year forced the company to cease operations.
