Records again with 7,478 Covid-19 cases and 63 deaths

The previous record high was 7,289 infections yesterday and 61 deaths on May 24.

PETALING JAYA:
The health ministry has reported another record high 7,478 Covid-19 cases and 63 deaths in the past 24 hours.

The previous record high was 7,289 infections yesterday, and 61 deaths on May 24.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 4,665 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 464,727.

In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 533,367.

There are 66,208 active cases with 756 patients being treated in intensive care and 377 requiring respiratory assistance.

Meanwhile, the 63 deaths take the number of fatalities to 2,432.

Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 2,455.

This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (760), Sarawak (640), Johor (587), Kelantan (547), Kedah (542), Penang (420), Negeri Sembilan (370), Perak (264), Melaka (230), Sabah (229), Terengganu (177), Pahang (171), Labuan (49), Putrajaya (29) and Perlis (8).

There were 7,473 local infections today – comprising 6,913 Malaysians and 560 foreigners – as well as five imported cases.

The 63 deceased comprised 57 Malaysians and six foreigners, aged between 20 and 94. All but 12 had existing medical conditions.
