KOTA KINABALU:
Business hours in Sabah, including for restaurants, supermarkets and sundry shops, have been shortened to 9am to 6pm from tomorrow. Markets will open from 6am to 3pm.

The decision was made following a rise in Covid-19 infections, which reached 305 cases today, and six new clusters being recorded.

Masidi Manjun, state minister of local government and housing, said the state disaster management committee had decided to standardise business operating hours throughout the state.

Masidi, who is the state’s spokesperson for Covid-19, said Kota Kinabalu, Putatan and Penampang would no longer be categorised as one district from tomorrow as the three districts provided 70 of new cases.

“Starting tomorrow, the police will carry out strict checks to control an inter-district travel ban involving these three districts,” he said.

State civil servants were told to work from home with only 30% of staff allowed in their respective offices.

Masidi said 305 cases were recorded in Sabah, today, bringing the cumulative total to 3,870 cases. There were no deaths but six new clusters were recorded.
