
This means that Malaysia will have enough jabs for 130% of the population, as opposed to 120% before this.
In a televised national address, Muhyiddin said the increase in vaccine supply will be used to start vaccinating some 6.4 million teenagers aged 12 to 17, among others.
SPM students will be prioritised, he added.
To increase the daily vaccination rate, he said the government had agreed to establish another 29 vaccination centres (PPVs) worth RM200 million, taking the total number of PPVs across the country to 370.
He added that the government would also upgrade the existing PPVs.
A transportation subsidy worth RM30 is given for taxis and e-hailing vehicles taking the disabled and elderly groups for vaccination trips.
Meanwhile, RM2 million will be allocated for frontliners involved in Covid-19 management. This allocation will be used to increase the consolation payment to health volunteers from RM50 a day to RM100 a day for those who work more than 12 hours a day starting this month.
A special allowance for frontliners involved in the vaccination programme will be increased from RM200 to RM600 starting this month.
A further RM150 million will be allocated for the government’s public-private partnership Covid-19 industrial immunisation programme initiative.
