This is the third day of record-high cases in a row, after 15,573 on Friday and 15,902 yesterday.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 9,683 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 844,541.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 1,013,438.
There are 160,903 active cases, with 970 patients being treated in intensive care and 501 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 92 deaths take the number of fatalities to 7,994.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 8,500, followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,045), Kedah (1,216), Johor (950), Sabah (818), Perak (609), Penang (573), Negeri Sembilan (513), Pahang (424), Sarawak (407), Melaka (370), Terengganu (273), Kelantan (266), Putrajaya (50), Labuan (21) and Perlis (10).
There were 17,039 local infections involving 13,169 Malaysians and 3,870 foreigners, as well as six imported cases.
Of the new cases today, Noor Hisham said 187 of them were in Category 5, 124 in Category 4, and 122 in Category 3. Overall, 97.4% of today’s cases were from Categories 1 or 2.
The 92 who died comprised 90 Malaysians and two foreigners. All but eight had existing medical conditions while a total of eight were brought in dead.
Selangor reported the highest number of deaths with 27, followed by Johor (23), KL (12), Negeri Sembilan (11), Melaka (5), Kedah (4), Pahang (3), Sabah (2), Sarawak (2), Perak (1), Terengganu (1) and Labuan (1).
Noor Hisham also said that as of yesterday, the country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 1.11, up from 1.09 the day before.
Terengganu recorded the highest R-nought level with 1.36 while other states with levels above 1.0 were Kelantan (1.29), Kedah (1.23), Penang (1.23), Sabah (1.21), Johor (1.19), Putrajaya (1.17), Pahang (1.15), Selangor (1.15), KL (1.13), Perak (1.13), Melaka (1.05) and Negeri Sembilan (1.03).
