Cops probing wedding for breaching SOPs

The ceremony which took place on Tuesday allegedly shows people not adhering to rules on social distancing.

PETALING JAYA:
A woman has been called in for questioning to the Wangsa Maju district police headquarters regarding a recent wedding ceremony which allegedly violated SOPs.

Wangsa Maju district deputy police chief D Saralathan said police would also be calling others involved in the ceremony which took place at a venue on Jalan Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, on Tuesday.

He said the results of the investigation found that the organiser had rented the hall from a wedding planner.

“The photo of the wedding ceremony showed people gathering without any social distancing,” he said in a statement.

He said police are investigating whether the wedding failed to comply with existing SOPs.

Yesterday, police received a report regarding a photo of the wedding that was shared on social media.

Acting on the report, the police opened an investigation paper under Section 22 (b) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988 and Regulation 17 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2021.
