The party also warned against any potential leaks, with Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan telling participants to “not have anyone record or transmit the contents of the meeting” in a circular seen by FMT.
The notification was delivered on the instructions of president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Ahmad said.
In a separate tweet, Ahmad said issues on the agenda will include the statement from Istana Negara that said the Agong had not consented to revoking the emergency ordinances, the emergency ordinances themselves and the adjournment of the special parliamentary sitting.
The call for the meeting comes after peaceful demonstrations were held in the capital in the last two days that called for the resignation of Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Recently, a Sinar Harian report claimed that 30 Barisan Nasional MPs are “understood” to have signed a letter declaring their support for Muhyiddin to remain as prime minister.
However, the assertions made by the report have not been confirmed.
The Umno supreme council had announced last month that the party was withdrawing support for Muhyiddin.
It did not however, pull out support from the Perikatan Nasional government and allowed its MPs to use their own discretion to vote on any motions tabled in Parliament.
