
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there was a record high 16,394 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 993,020.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 1,224,595.
There are now 221,396 active cases, with a record 1,096 patients being treated in intensive care and 545 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 160 deaths take the number of fatalities to 10,179.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 8,792.
This was followed by Kuala Lumpur (2,483), Kedah (1,371), Sabah (1,291), Johor (1,275), Negeri Sembilan (986), Kelantan (938), Penang (776), Sarawak (652), Perak (624), Pahang (610), Melaka (491), Terengganu (460), Putrajaya (122), Perlis (9) and Labuan (9).
Selangor and Sabah registered a record high number of cases.
There were 20,876 local infections today, involving 17,477 Malaysians and 3,399 foreigners, as well as 13 imported cases.
The 160 deceased comprised 142 Malaysians and 18 foreigners. All but 39 had existing medical conditions while 24 were brought in dead.
Selangor reported the highest number of deaths with 51, followed by Johor (32), Kedah (22), Kuala Lumpur (17), Negeri Sembilan (14), Pahang (6), Sabah (5), Melaka (4), Terengganu (4), Perak (3) and Penang (2).
Noor Hisham also said that as of yesterday, the country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate was at 1.08.
Kelantan recorded the highest R-nought level again with 1.29. Other states and federal territories that recorded R0 levels above 1 were Perak (1.23), Penang (1.21), Terengganu (1.20), Kedah (1.17), Sabah (1.17), Johor (1.14), Kuala Lumpur (1.11), Sarawak (1.09), Pahang (1.09), Melaka (1.09), Selangor (1.08) and Putrajaya (1.01).
