EMCO in 5 areas in Sabah, Terengganu and Kelantan

The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) will be implemented in the affected areas from Aug 10 to Aug 23.

Three of the areas that will go under EMCO (enhanced movement control order) are in Sabah while the other two are in Terengganu and Kelantan.

Enhanced movement control orders (EMCOs) have been announced in five areas across Sabah, Terengganu and Kelantan.

In a statement, senior minister for security Hishammuddin Hussein said the enhanced movement restrictions will begin on Tuesday (Aug 10) and last up to Aug 23.

Three of the affected areas are in Sabah while the other two are in Terengganu and Kelantan.

In Tawau, Sabah, three localities will go under the EMCO — Blok 11 Kg Tintingan, Kampung Pukat in Tanjung Batu Laut and Kampung Rawa-Rawa Batu 4.

In Kalabakan, two farm workers’ housing areas in Kapur, Benta Wawasan and Serudung, Usahawan Borneo, are also affected.

Kampung Padas in Kota Kinabalu will also be placed under EMCO.

In Terengganu, Desa Keluarga YPK Chendering in Kuala Terengganu will be affected.

The EMCO will also be implemented at Kampung Baru Pupoh, Pasir Puteh, in Kelantan.

Meanwhile, Hishammuddin said the EMCO for Kampung Bukit Merbau and Kg Banggol Pak Esah in Pasir Puteh, Kelantan, which was supposed to expire tomorrow, has been extended until Aug 23.

The EMCO in Kampung Bukit Malut, Langkawi, Kedah, will also be extended until Aug 23. The one at Kampung Teluk Menara, Manir, Terengganu, will be extended until Aug 18.

Twelve areas previously under EMCO will see the tightened restrictions lifted on Aug 9.

In Kelantan, EMCOs at Kampung Selising, Kampung Tok Dir, Kampung Padang Pak Omar and Kampung Bukit Bidang in Bukit Jawa will be lifted tomorrow.

This is in addition to Kampung Berangan, Kampung Alor Geliong, Kampung Banggol Jenereh, Kampung Kubang Sawa, Kampung Lubuk Kedondong, Kampung Chat and Kampung Banggol Dollah in Mukim Bukit Abal, as well as Kampung Lepah and Kampung Alor Hijau in Mukim Bukit Jawa, Pasir Puteh.

The EMCO in Kampung Joh and Kampung Maka in Machang, Kelantan, will be lifted tomorrow.

In Sabah, EMCOs at Kampung Sumaang in Ranau, Kampung Sangkabok in Kuala Penyu, Taman Semarak Megah in Tawau, Ladang Belian in Kalabakan, Kampung Pelakat and Pelakat Jaya in Sipitang, Kampung Batandok and Kampung Menanjung in Beaufort will also end tomorrow.

Elsewhere in the country, EMCOs will end tomorrow at:

Kampung Sungai Seputeh, Kampung Teluk Mas, Kampung Garok, Kampung Tapah in Larut, Matang and Selama district in Perak; and Taman Tas, Pandan, Taman Indera Sempurna, Taman Impianku in Kuantan, Pahang.

Meanwhile, the SOP compliance task force ordered 25 premises to close yesterday for failing to comply with the rules.

Hishammuddin also said 255 people were issued compound fines and 21 remanded for various offences.

The authorities seized three vehicles as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign and arrested nine undocumented migrants.
