KOTA KINABALU:
Residents at the University Condo Apartment (UCA) 2, in Jalan Tuaran Lama here, are up in arms over the water supply problem in their housing area that has been going on for the past five months.

They claimed that although supply is being rationed, the schedule was uncertain.

“Imagine, the water supply is available for a while, and then it’s off. There have been times we went without water for 24 hours,” said Zulnaidi Yaacob, adding the past five months have been a nightmare for him and other residents.

“There were also several times when tanker trucks came to supply water to the residents but it was not enough. Sometimes, when the residents see the tanker trucks coming, they run with their buckets but by the time they reach the trucks, there is no more water,” he told FMT.

Zulnaidi, who has lived at UCA 2 for the past five years, said the situation worsened when the area was recently placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

“It was a disaster for us when we had to undergo EMCO with no water supply. Fortunately, the EMCO ended early,” he said.

Another resident, Firdaus Abdul Aziz, said the water supply problem only added to the difficulties he and his neighbours faced.

“Sometimes, we use only half a bucket of water to bathe, the dishes are piled up for several days and the clothes are left unwashed.

“Water is supposed to be supplied from 11am to 5pm and 11pm to 5am, but even that schedule is uncertain,” he said.
