Hajiji said he hoped the one-off assistance will help all the state assemblymen and community leaders to look after their constituents who are in need of help.
This means each constituency will get RM100,000, if the allocation is equally distributed.
“As a commitment of togetherness under the Keluarga Malaysia (Malaysian Family) spirit, I am happy to announce that the state government has agreed to channel this “Sentuhan Kasih” assistance of RM7.3 million to all the state constituencies.
“This is an addition to the existing assistance which has been or is being given by the state and federal governments,” he said in his winding-up speech at the state assembly today.
Meanwhile, Hajiji said all the Sabah representatives must continue to showcase the values of the Malaysian Family which have been in practice since before.
Towards this end, he also urged the assemblymen to work together and combine their energies in developing the state as well as prioritising the people’s welfare.
“Let’s put our political ideologies aside and have less politicking.
“Sabahans are way behind in many fields compared to the people in the peninsula. Who else can advance our people if not our own leaders?” he asked.
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government also gave a special RM100,000 allocation to the 31 opposition elected representatives in the state.
Hajiji had said the allocations are to help assemblymen resolve problems in their respective constituencies and to aid the people during the Covid-19 pandemic.
