PETALING JAYA:
The government must act against those who hurl racist remarks to manifest the Keluarga Malaysia concept of setting aside religious, racial and political differences, DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng said.

He said he was concerned over the recent radical and racist attacks on social media against non-Malays and non-Muslims.

“These repulsive religious extremist and racist comments are bad enough if hurled by unscrupulous politicians against political opponents, but repugnant when targeted against innocent ordinary non-Muslim Malaysians,” he said in a statement.

Lim said recent remarks had affected innocent people and even a national badminton player who tried her best to win her match for her country.

Yesterday, Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu had condemned the use of racial slur against national shuttler S Kisona.

Meanwhile, 3,000 police reports have been lodged across the country against preacher Syakir Nasoha for allegedly insulting and defaming other religions in a one-minute video that went viral on social media.
