PETALING JAYA: The driver of a Lamborghini who caused a multiple-vehicle pile up along Jalan Tun Razak last month was sentenced to two weeks’ jail and fined RM9,000 by the magistrates’ court here today.
In the Sept 8 incident, the driver of the purple Lamborghini Gallardo was caught on dashcam footage speeding recklessly before crashing into a Proton Perdana while heading towards Bulatan Pahang (roundabout).
Three other vehicles were involved in the pile-up.
In a statement today, Kuala Lumpur traffic investigation and enforcement department chief Sarifudin Mohd Salleh said the driver pleaded guilty to reckless and dangerous driving under Section 42 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
The driver – who did not have a driving licence – was ordered to serve another five months’ jail if he failed to pay the fine.
He has also been banned from applying for a driving licence for five years.
He could have faced a jail term not exceeding five years and a fine of not less than RM5,000 and not more than RM15,000.
