
In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 5,382 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 2,407,205.
Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 2,501,966.
There were 544 patients in intensive care, 527 of whom were confirmed to be Covid-19 positive and 17 suspected of being infected.
Meanwhile, 280 patients required respiratory assistance, with 212 patients Covid-19 positive and the remaining 68 suspected of being positive.
There were 4,673 local infections today, involving 4,505 Malaysians and 168 foreigners, and 28 imported cases.
Noor Hisham said that of the new infections, only 1.9% of patients were in Category 3, 4 or 5 at the time of diagnosis.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 0.92, with Putrajaya, Negeri Sembilan and Melaka having the highest R-nought level of 1.06, 1.03 and 1.01 respectively.
All other states recorded R-noughts of less than 1.00 while Labuan had an R-nought of zero.
