
Of the new infections, only 86 (or 0.41% of the total) were cases in Category 3, 4 and 5, which require hospital treatment, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.
He said 10 clusters were reported today.
The new cases comprised 21,007 local infections, involving 20,526 Malaysians and 481 foreigners. There were 65 imported cases reported today.
The cumulative number of infections now stands at 3,040,235 cases.
Noor Hisham said 5,724 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,852,437.
Of those in hospital, 187 patients remain in intensive care, 98 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 89 suspected of being infected; 109 patients require respiratory assistance, with 47 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 62 suspected of being infected.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) stands at 1.49, with Labuan having the highest R0 level of 2.14, followed by Sarawak (1.67), Sabah (1.66), Perlis (1.47), Penang (1.46), Johor (1.40), Pahang (1.38), Kelantan (1.37), Selangor (1.37), Terengganu (1.35), Kedah (1.35), Putrajaya (1.34), Negeri Sembilan (1.31), Melaka (1.28), Perak (1.27), and Kuala Lumpur (1.22).
