Of today’s new infections, only 97 (or 0.35% of the total) were cases in Category 3, 4 and 5, which require hospital treatment, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said in a statement today.
He said 28 clusters were reported today.
The new cases comprised 27,713 local infections, involving 27,049 Malaysians and 664 foreigners. There were 118 imported cases reported today.
The cumulative number of infections now stands at 3,111,514 cases.
Noor Hisham said 7,912 patients had recovered, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,876,450.
Of those in hospital, 204 patients remain in intensive care, 105 of whom are confirmed Covid-19 positive and 99 suspected of being infected; 116 patients required respiratory assistance, with 53 Covid-19 positive and the remaining 63 suspected of being infected.
The country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate (R-nought, or R0) stands at 1.33, with Labuan having the highest R0 level of 2.08, followed by Sarawak (1.57), Sabah (1.52), Perlis (1.41), Penang (1.40), Kedah (1.40), Terengganu (1.36), Kelantan (1.33), Pahang (1.32), Johor (1.31), Selangor (1.29), Perak (1.28), Negeri Sembilan (1.27), Kuala Lumpur (1.24), Putrajaya (1.23) and Melaka (1.21)
