She said the event held at PH’s Yong Peng operations centre last Saturday was disrupted earlier by a dinner organised by MCA and Barisan Nasional (BN) supporters at a nearby restaurant.
Kok said a lion dance was organised as part of the dinner programme and the noise caused a 30-minute delay to PH’s event.
“I appealed to the police to allow an additional 30 minutes to make up for the disruption but this was rejected,” she said in a statement today.
“I believe the police refused simply because PH is in the opposition.”
The Seputeh MP then called on the authorities to afford all political parties a fair and peaceful campaign.
Kok will allegedly be investigated for her speech at the PH event after Batu Pahat district police chief Ismail Dollah reportedly said it contained “threats against the police”.
In response, she said she was willing to cooperate with the police if they wished to investigate her.
Meanwhile, Beruas MP Ngeh Koo Ham urged the authorities to investigate the police and Election Commission (EC) officers charged with monitoring the MCA-BN dinner.
He said the dinner was allowed to go on beyond the two hours permitted by the EC for election campaign events and exceeded the maximum number of 100 attendees.
“We are disappointed with the unfair and biased attitude of the police officers and EC officials.
“MCA-BN must be investigated for being involved in a programme that violates the EC’s SOPs,” he said in a separate statement.
