KOTA KINABALU: Upko vice-president Ewon Benedick is expected to throw his hat into the ring for the president’s post when the party holds its election.
A source close to Ewon said the Kadamaian assemblyman would make an announcement during the party’s annual meeting on Monday.
“Many party members, especially the leaders and those in the party’s wings, support Ewon’s plan to contest the president’s post,” he told FMT.
Ewon would have to face Tuaran MP Wilfred Madius Tangau, who is also the incumbent president.
However, Ewon refused to confirm the matter when contacted by FMT.
The party election is rumoured to be held this year.
