
PETALING JAYA: The total cumulative cases of dengue have spiked by 52.4% from the same period last year, increasing from 10,597 to 16,145 cases, according to the health ministry.
The total number of dengue cases reportedly rose by 32.2% from the previous epidemiological week (EW), jumping from 1,074 to 1,420.
This has been the highest number of dengue cases since 2021.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the number of hotspot locations had also increased from 36 to 41 since the previous EW.
A large majority of the hotspots were located within Selangor, with a few in Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, Melaka, and Sabah.
Nine dengue-related deaths have been reported so far this year.
