Be wary of scam phone calls using ministry’s name

Communications and multimedia ministry urges people to verify suspicious calls.

The communications and multimedia ministry has advised the public not to provide or disclose any information to callers.
KUALA LUMPUR:
The public are advised to be wary of scam phone calls allegedly from those claiming to be from the communications and multimedia ministry.

Ministry secretary-general Mohammad Mentek asked the public to verify the calls with the ministry on its official lines at 03-8911 5351, 03-8911 5188, 03-8911 5258 or 03-8911 5265.

“The public are also advised not to provide or disclose any information to the callers,” he said in a statement.

Any suspected scam phone call or text message must be reported to the commercial crime investigation department (CCID) response centre at 03-2610 1559 or 03-2610 1599.
