PUTRAJAYA:
Civil servants have been called to be the voice of the government to Malaysians.

The chief secretary to the government, Zuki Ali, said weaknesses and failings of the government were easily sensationalised by the media, rather than the successes and benefits achieved.

“So, why don’t we publicise the good things among us on social media, and in daily conversations, communication with other parties and so on.

“We do not deny that there will be weaknesses, but the fact is we have also achieved a lot throughout this year,” said Zuki, who is the head of the civil service, when closing a Keluarga Malaysia symposium here today.

As an example of success, he mentioned the government’s efforts in stabilising food prices such as the prices of chicken and cooking oil.

“When prices of goods increase, all parties ask what are our efforts to lower them. Many parties slam and criticise us. However, when we have successfully carried out intervention measures, not many people talk about them,” he said.

He urged civil servants to feel the spirit of Keluarga Malaysia among themselves so that they can instil a sense of belonging among all Malaysians.

The Keluarga Malaysia symposium was held to examine and explain the achievements and challenges of the current government over the past one year.
