PETALING JAYA:
The Penang state executive council has decided not to implement a work-from-home (WFH) policy for civil servants for the time being.

Chief minister Chow Kon Yeow said the decision followed a comprehensive assessment of operational needs, service delivery capacity, and the current situation, which remains under control.

He said the state government would continue to monitor developments and review the policy periodically.

“If there are changes requiring a more flexible approach, including the possible reintroduction of WFH, measures will be considered to ensure a balance between the welfare of civil servants and service delivery efficiency.

“The state government remains committed to ensuring that public services are not affected, while also considering the welfare of public sector employees,” Bernama reported him as saying today.

On April 1, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said the Cabinet had agreed to implement a WFH policy for those working in ministries, agencies, statutory bodies, and government-linked companies, effective April 15.
