
Lauding their business acumen, he said “it cannot be denied” that they played a big role in the economic development of Sabah.
“Known for their business skills, their role in building the economy is significant,” he said after attending an event in Kota Kinabalu last night, Malay Mail reported.
“We want the Chinese community to continue supporting the government of the day as we are trying our best to bring about development for the state and its people,”
Hajiji said the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) government would always protect the welfare and interests of Sabahans of all faiths and races, adding that this had seen the state stand out for its harmony.
“This harmony in diversity must be maintained,” he said.
“We are free to celebrate our respective festivals and this is what makes our state unique.
“Such an environment must continue as we are united as Malaysians in Sabah.”
He also said Sabah would continue to welcome any investment which can boost its economy and create jobs.
