Mohamad, who is Barisan Nasional (BN) election director, said that no decision on the matter had been made, stressing that he had never said he would be contesting in Rembau.
“The focus of our talks has been on the machinery, not on candidates and seats,” Berita Harian quoted him as saying at an event in Seremban, Negeri Sembilan.
“I said it was time for me to contest at the parliamentary level. As to which constituency, that’s up to me, I’m deputy president.”
Rembau MP Khairy Jamaluddin was previously reported to have said that he would not be contesting in the same constituency in GE15.

Khairy has been the Rembau MP since 2008.
Mohamad, who is better known as Tok Mat, said that BN would not give any guarantees that certain candidates would remain in their respective seats.
He said each state chapter would nominate candidates for the seats before discussions are held among BN’s top leaders.
“We will see who is considered worthy and will make a good candidate.
“My priority as election director is to ensure BN wins. If an MP who has been holding a seat for a long time can win, there is no reason for him not to be re-nominated for the constituency,” he said.
