PETALING JAYA:
Umno will be holding a gathering at its headquarters in Kuala Lumpur tomorrow in what is viewed as its largest meeting before the next general election.

A party source told FMT that the leaders of the respective wings and its 191 divisions are scheduled to converge at party headquarters at the World Trade Centre at 2pm.

“This is a large-scale final gathering for Umno before the elections,” the source told FMT.

On Saturday, it was reported that the gathering will be attended by party president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob, who is an Umno vice-president.

Tomorrow’s gathering comes as the party continues to pile on pressure on Ismail to dissolve Parliament to pave the way for the general election this year.

It also comes a little over a month after a special gathering was held to discuss “current” issues, including an explanation on the apex court’s decision to uphold its former president and prime minister Najib Razak’s conviction on corruption charges in the SRC International case.
