Party president Muhyiddin Yassin says the state government is 'extraordinary' although it is not the same at the federal level.

KOTA KINABALU:
Bersatu candidates in Sabah will use the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) logo when contesting in the upcoming general election (GE15), Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin said.

Muhyiddin said each win by a Bersatu candidate will be counted as a win for the party, which is part of Perikatan Nasional (PN).

“That is the understanding that was agreed upon, (there are) no issues or problems,” he said.

“The situation in Sabah is extraordinary as the formation of the government is due to the mutual understanding among the (GRS) parties although it is not the same at the federal level.”

He said PN would hand the responsibility of managing GE15 to the Sabah Bersatu leadership, led by Hajiji Noor, who is also the chief minister, and GRS to have a collective understanding that will benefit the people.

Asked about the seemingly “cold” ties between PAS and Umno, Muhyiddin said PAS was a founding member of PN and remained an important partner, especially when facing GE15.

“PAS had repeatedly said they will remain an important partner of PN. That is much clearer now and there are no uncertainties. This will pave the way for PN to be stronger and work more effectively to win the elections,” he said.

Earlier, Muhyiddin attended a meeting with the Sabah Bersatu leadership at the party headquarters here. Among those present were Hajiji and Bersatu vice-president Ronald Kiandee.
