Pejuang could work with PN, says Dr M

Former prime minister says it will depend on whether PN shares their ideology.

PUTRAJAYA:
Pejuang chairman Dr Mahathir Mohamad says his party could work with Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the coming general election (GE15).

“We have to weigh (our options) and see first. If they have the same ideology as us then there is a possibility,” he told a press conference here.

Mahathir used to be the chairman of Bersatu, the PN lynchpin.

He maintained that Gerakan Tanah Air’s (GTA) main enemy at the polls was Umno, saying the country would be ruined if the Barisan Nasional lynchpin governs the nation.

The former prime minister also reiterated that GTA could not work with Pakatan Harapan because Malay voters rejected DAP, one of PH’s component parties.

Meanwhile, Mahathir said GTA would be announcing its candidates next week, after seat allocations had been discussed.

Last week, caretaker prime minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob announced that Parliament had been dissolved, paving the way for GE15.

The Election Commission (EC) will be announcing the dates for the nationwide polls tomorrow.
