4 PAS leaders courted to contest under BN ticket, says source

PAS central committee member Zuhdi Marsuki confirms that a suggestion had been made for him to contest the Shah Alam seat under a BN ticket.

A source told FMT that it was proposed that the four PAS leaders contest the Pengkalan Chepa, Tumpat, Shah Alam and Indera Mahkota parliamentary seats under BN.
PETALING JAYA:
Four PAS leaders were approached and urged to contest under the Barisan Nasional banner in the coming general election (GE15), a source revealed.

The source told FMT that it had been proposed that the four PAS men contest the Pengkalan Chepa, Tumpat, Shah Alam and Indera Mahkota parliamentary seats under the BN banner.

He added that the proposal was made on the basis of maintaining the spirit of Muafakat Nasional. “The seats are considered MN seats.”

This follows rumours that several PAS leaders will not be standing in GE15. FMT has reached out to the four PAS leaders for comment.

Meanwhile, PAS central committee member Zuhdi Marsuki confirmed that a suggestion had been made for him to contest the Shah Alam seat under a BN ticket.

However, he said he rejected the proposal since he had already said he wanted to sit out this general election. He also reiterated that he was still loyal to PAS and would help the Islamic party on the campaign trail.

Earlier today, Utusan Malaysia reported that former Tumpat and Bachok MPs, Che Abdullah Mat Nawi and Nik Abduh Nik Aziz, could be contesting under BN in GE15.

When contacted, Che Abdullah told the Malay daily to “wait for tonight”. While it is unclear what he was referring to, BN is expected to announce its candidates for the nationwide polls tonight.
