PETALING JAYA:
PKR president Anwar Ibrahim and his Amanah counterpart, Mohamad Sabu, have criticised PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang for claiming that Pakatan Harapan and Umno are in talks to form the government after the general election.

Mohamad, also known as Mat Sabu, accused Hadi of lying. He said there was no possibility of PH working with Umno to form the new government, according to a China Press report.

“Hadi Awang is lying, this is all I want to say. He just loves to lie,” he told reporters on the sidelines of a PH event in Alor Setar, Kedah, last night.

Anwar, who spoke at the event, said there were no plans for any form of cooperation with Umno. He said PH had set its sights on obtaining a simple majority to form the government.

“I am not the PAS president. I wouldn’t be a beggar and go to Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to beg for support,” he said, according to the daily.

Hadi had reportedly claimed that there was a ploy in Umno to help PH win more seats in the elections to make it easier for Barisan Nasional and PH to form the next government.

On Tuesday, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli said he was strongly against any negotiations to form an alliance with Umno.

The PKR election director said he would be the first to oppose such talks.
