Rapid KL has shut down 16 stations along the Kelana Jaya LRT line for a week from today, this after services were disrupted yesterday following an automatic train control (ATC) system malfunction.
The Kelana Jaya LRT line was also affected by the same problem on Monday, which disrupted regular service.
Rapid KL is a Prasarana subsidiary.
Wee apologised to the public for the inconvenience caused.
“Although this matter is not fully under my purview, but as part of the government, I have to apologise to the public,” he said, alluding to the fact that Prasarana is owned by the finance ministry.
Wee said while the closing of the stations “should not have happened”, the transport ministry, which regulates the service, did not want to compromise on the safety of the commuters.
When asked if the incident would affect his campaign, Wee said it was a separate issue.
“This is a technical failure.”
