KOTA KINABALU:
The five Umno assemblymen who refused to support the plot to topple the current Sabah government want state party chief Bung Moktar Radin to resign from his party post immediately.

In a joint statement here today, the assemblymen said they condemned any move to destabilise politics in Sabah, adding that Bung’s action has tarnished the good name of the party.

The five assemblymen are Shahelmey Yahya (Tanjung Keramat), Jasni Daya (Pantai Dalit), James Ratib (Sugut), Yusof Yacob (Sindumin) and Arsad Bistari (Tempasuk).

“We regret that Sabah has again been dragged into an unnecessary political crisis.

“Together with the people of Sabah, we stand firm in our belief that this is not the time for grabbing power.

“Instead, it is the time to unite so that the current state government and all parties can continue to devote time, energy and resources to develop our economy and improve the livelihood of all Sabahans,” they said.

They pledged their undivided support to Hajiji as the rightful chief minister under the constitution.

They also called for political stability and urged that a unity government be formed at the state level.

“We hope and pray that this political crisis will soon be over so that efforts can be taken to develop our economy during these challenging times,” they said.
