Aidilfitri cash aid brought forward, says Anwar

Over a million people will receive the Aidilfitri cash aid on April 14, instead of April 17.

Finance minister Anwar Ibrahim has announced an earlier disbursement date for the Aidilfitri cash aid.
PETALING JAYA:
Over one million Malaysians, including farmers, fishermen, lower-level civil servants and pensioners will receive their special Aidilfitri cash aid by this Friday, says finance minister Anwar Ibrahim.

In a statement, Anwar said the government decided to bring forward the payment, known as BKKA, to April 14 from its original disbursement date, April 17.

Others who will receive the BKKA earlier include low-level contract officers (Grade 56 and below) and volunteers of uniformed units.

Yesterday, Cuepacs, the umbrella group for civil service unions, urged the government to pay salaries for April by this Friday.

Previously, the government expedited Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR) cash aid payments for the B40 group, beginning April 5.

This exercise involves an allocation of RM1.26 billion that will benefit 8.7 million people who fall under the B40 category.
