Mohamad, also known as Tok Mat, said BN received several requests from other parties in the unity government for them to use its iconic logo at the polls.
“BN will use its own logo and campaign on its own platform for the state elections. This will be an indicator of voters’ support for BN,” he told reporters after an Aidilfitri event at Wisma Perwira here.
Mohamad said the coalition would plan its strategy for the 16th general election based on the results of the state polls.
The state assemblies of Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Penang, Kelantan, Kedah and Terengganu are expected to be dissolved in the second half of June to pave the way for elections.
Previously, Ketereh Amanah chief Che Ibrahim Mohamed suggested Pakatan Harapan contest under the BN banner in Kelantan and Terengganu.
Che Ibrahim said the PH symbol was not widely accepted in the two states, and the use of a single election symbol would demonstrate the unity and cooperation between the two coalitions.
Political analyst Azmi Hassan of Akademi Nusantara backed this proposal, saying this will give PH candidates standing in the east coast states a better chance of winning against Perikatan Nasional.
