PETALING JAYA:
There has been no discussion on Pakatan Harapan using Barisan Nasional’s “dacing” logo for the upcoming polls in Kelantan, says a state PH leader.

Kelantan PH chairman Muhammad Husain said the matter was also not raised when they met with their state BN counterparts.

He said any such talk was merely the opinion of individuals.

“We leave it to the central leadership to decide if PH needs to use the BN logo in Kelantan,” Muhammad told FMT, adding that BN and PH were still in the process of seat negotiations at the state level.

Previously, Ketereh Amanah chief Che Ibrahim Mohamed proposed that PH use BN’s logo for the elections in Kelantan and Terengganu.

He said this was because the PH logo was not widely accepted in the two states.

Che Ibrahim also said the use of a single election symbol would demonstrate the unity and cooperation between the two coalitions.

Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan later said BN was willing to consider allowing its partners in the unity government to use the “dacing” logo for the state elections.

PAS-ruled Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah, as well as PH-controlled Penang, Negeri Sembilan and Selangor are set to go to the polls within the next few months.

Muhammad also downplayed rumours that PAS’ former Bachok MP Nik Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz would be fielded as a PH or BN candidate for the election in Kelantan.

Muhammad, who is also the Kelantan Amanah chief, said the matter had never been discussed.

Nik Abduh, son of the late PAS spiritual leader Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, had sparked speculation after he met with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim on Friday.

It gave rise to talk that he might join PH or that he would be the ruling federal coalition’s candidate to be the next menteri besar of Kelantan.

Nik Abduh played down the meeting, saying it had nothing to do with politics and that it had been planned before Ramadan but was postponed due to Anwar’s busy schedule.
