Statement on PAS shunning rights of non-Muslims a fake

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan says this is a malicious attempt to discredit the party.

The statement, attributed to PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, has been circulating on social media.
PETALING JAYA:
A statement circulating on social media, purportedly issued by PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan, stating that the party will only defend the rights of Malays and Muslims, is false.

In a Facebook post, Takiyuddin said the statement, dated June 24, was “false and purely slanderous”.

“It is evident that this is a malicious attempt by certain parties to discredit PAS,” he said.

According to the statement, PAS agreed to defend the interests of Malays and Muslims only since non-Muslims allegedly posed a “threat” to unity in the country.

It also claimed that the party believed that the non-Muslim communities brought harm to society, which resulted in a negative impact on the economy.
