SHAH ALAM:
Amanah will contest nine of the 56 seats in the Selangor state election next month.

Selangor Amanah chairman Izham Hashim said the party will defend the Sabak, Meru, Pandan Indah, Hulu Kelang, Morib, Seri Serdang, Sungai Ramal and Taman Templer seats which it won in the 14th general election (GE14).

Another seat is Hulu Bernam, which Amanah is taking over from Barisan Nasional in exchange for the Jeram seat, he told Bernama.

Izham said the list of candidates will be finalised by Amanah’s top leadership today.

He was confident the party can defend at least eight seats in the election.

Selangor Pakatan Harapan chairman Amirudin Shari previously said the seat distribution between PH and BN had been completed, with more than 20% of the 56 state seats to be contested by BN, and the rest by PH, consisting of PKR, DAP and Amanah.

In GE14, PH secured 51 of the 56 seats, followed by BN (four) and PAS (one).
