KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating caretaker Kedah menteri besar Sanusi Nor for offences related to race, religion and royalty, better known as 3R, for allegedly insulting the Sultan of Selangor, Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said.
“We will take seven days to wrap up the investigation as we have a task force for such offences,” he told reporters at Bukit Aman here today.
Earlier, several PKR members lodged a police report against Sanusi over remarks he allegedly made at a ceramah recently.
Shah Alam PKR information chief Suryamuizzudin Kamarudin accused Sanusi of disregarding the authority and prerogative of the sultan in the appointment of the menteri besar.
Sanusi had reportedly drawn a comparison between the Kedah and Selangor sultans, and said the Kedah ruler would not have appointed Amirudin Shari as the menteri besar.
Meanwhile, Razarudin advised political leaders to stop touching on 3R issues, especially when the state elections are near, as their supporters would potentially react by causing tension in public.
“Some people cross the line when talking, without thinking about the feelings of others. If it were me, if my words insulted the royal institution, I would seek a pardon,” he said.
