Let candidates debate, Adam tells Syed Saddiq

PKR Youth chief Adam Adli says those contesting the state polls need more exposure, not party leaders.

PETALING JAYA:
PKR Youth chief Adam Adli has turned down Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman’s invitation to a debate on issues faced by young Malaysians.

This comes after Syed Saddiq, the Muda president, invited Adam and Perikatan Nasional Youth chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari to a debate on these topics.

In rejecting the invitation, Adam said it was not suitable for them to debate now as candidates contesting in the Aug 12 state elections should be the one taking part in debates instead.

“It’s the six state elections right now. Let’s highlight our candidates and give them a chance. Let them debate first and allow the people to judge.

“We are entering the last week of campaigning. Focus on their voice, let them get more exposure than us who have an advantage in terms of attention from the media and society,” Adam said in a series of tweets.

However, Fadhli reportedly accepted Syed Saddiq’s invitation.

According to Sinar Harian, the PAS man said he is working out a suitable time and date for the debate to be held.

Earlier this week, PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli challenged PN election director Sanusi Nor and Selangor PN chief Azmin Ali to televised debates on the economy, but both spurned the offers.

Rafizi then invited Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman, which the PAS man initially turned down before making a u-turn and agreeing to it.
